The Terrorist Party Wearing Red

Joe Biden ran on unity, ran on being the complete opposite of Donald Trump and willing to work with both political parties in order to move the country forward after some of the roughest years in the entire history of the United States, with the Capitol terrorist attack being the peak chaos that had been caused from the white supremacist administration. With good approval ratings even with the Progressive wing being antsy and some of the Republican Party trying desperately to paint him as vindictive and seeking revenge, this image of a unified America under Biden seems to be working thus far with the American consensus.

But there’s a problem.

One party has officially been stuffed with white supremacists and terrorist sympathizers.

Nancy Pelosi went on a verbal rampage after the expected but nonetheless disappointing results from the second impeachment trial of dictator-wannabe Donald Trump. Despite the overwhelming evidence, the testimonies, the connections, the fact that all of this was captured on television and on social media, the Republicans still did not convict for technical reasons---and because they still want the votes of the deplorables that committed the chaos on the 6th. The Republicans, in spite of all the vile disgusting nonsense that Donald Trump represents, still feels like they need his support and his presence.

Pelosi’s tirade unveiled just about everything she felt about the Republican Party except for one nasty reality that I’m sure she’s aware of:

The Republican Party as it is, is broken, and has to cease existing for the time being.

A reminder, conservatism isn’t the problem, it’s the political party pretending to represent conservatism.

Sorry Republicans, but your party, which had already been behaving erratically since the Reagan days, is completely morally bankrupt. The party of personal responsibility behaves without consequences, without any sort of regret of how much pain and death they inflict with their decision-making. The current Republican Party allowed Trump to spew vicious anti-American, anti-minority rhetoric, and then let him off the hook for trying to overturn the results of the election---after SIXTY lawsuits being thrown out.

Trump’s behavior had become so consistently bad, so consistently ridiculous, that it had become normalized. The news normalized his behavior, and then the Republicans used this stunted feedback towards the constant barrage of deadly mischief to improve their finances, consolidate their power for generations to come, and even go as bold as profit off a deadly pandemic. So of course, after Trump spent all these years getting away with it, January 6th became the most expected terrorist attack in United States history. The insurrection, the coup attempt chock full of assassination plots was being planned on open sight (via the internet chat rooms and far-right sites, even a Donald Trump website) for weeks, and nothing was done because it was helping the Trump Administration.

Let’s reverse the situation. Imagine a post-Trump electoral victory, in which a crowd of over a thousand Black Lives Matter protestors plotting to kidnap and execute Republicans and rushing the Capitol police, invade, trash, vandalize, and steal from the Capitol building itself, and refuse to leave until the National Guard and SWAT team had to be called in hours later. Imagine Black Lives Matter protestors chanting to hang people, to kill police, to kill politicians, to overturn an election on the very day they were trying to validate the votes. Imagine replacing American flags with Black Lives Matter ones, bringing nooses to the area, attacking everyone with a variety of weapons ranging from clubs and sticks to actual bombs.

Now let’s replace Black Lives Matter with Antifa members. Or better yet, make it a crowd of disgruntled Muslim-Americans not satisfied with Trump’s second win. Wouldn’t we all be screaming the word “terrorism” and “terrorists” if the skin of the people invading had predominantly been a few shades darker? Of course, no question. So why aren’t we doing this to the people that rushed the Capitol in hopes of keeping Donald Trump longer in power illegally? Because the majority of this country is white, and the United States struggles to classify white Americans that commit heinous crimes as terrorists. Also, because the Republican Party is still trying to keep the support of these terrorists, therefore they can’t have such a label attached to them and their actions.

The Republican Party is harboring terrorists and terrorist-sympathizers within their own halves in government; whether its Ted Cruz who had a major role in revving up the angry supporters to attack on the 6th along with Josh Hawley, or its somebody like Marjorie Taylor Greene supporting conspiracy theories and maintaining her connections and support of extremists and terrorists that believe that Anderson Cooper eats children. Even during the 6th, it appears that most of the more-dangerous instigators had communication with some of the Republicans and members of the White House to carry out their actions. Nonetheless, the Republican Party refuses to separate themselves from Trump and all the baggage he clearly carries.

So therefore, this party has to go.

The party has become too corrupted. The party has become too complacent with white supremacist terrorism. The party has valued money over lives repeatedly and even during the worst of times like this ongoing pandemic. The dangerous behavior of the party continues as Trump is still getting visitors from White House Republicans and wild dangerous people like Greene still remains working for the White House.

So what do we do?

The best way to destroy the MAGA movement that remains a stagnant smell in American politics is to wildly expand the political field and expand not only voting rights but expanding the opportunities for third parties, independents, and even large party factions separating from the source more resources and more space to formulate a stronger presence in all upcoming elections. Conservatives should not be forced to stick to the Republican Party regardless of how ugly they become; they should be given proper options to choose among several conservative political parties that I’m sure are bubbling under the thick paywall that prevents them from true exposure to the masses. Mitt Romney and other Republicans have recently discussed breaking away and forming their own party. But as of now, its impossible for a third-party to succeed under current rules and circumstances.

We need a second voting rights act, one that is so powerful that its impossible to overcome. Republican Party has won only one election through both popular vote and the electoral college (George W. Bush in 2004) since the Bill Clinton days, relying on outdated rules to win their main elections. A huge part of this is because of voter suppression, voter intimidation, constant changing of the goal posts to allow people to vote in the first place, gerrymandering, and increased difficulties related to the voting process stripping away interest from participating at all. We need to demand the ability for every person over 18 to be allowed to vote without even having to constantly register—only needing a form of identification to participate.

You got a driver’s license? Awesome, you can vote for president now. It should be this easy. I’m even going a step further, courtesy of Bernie Sanders: people in prison should also be allowed to vote.

Voting should be offered in a variety of different ways, from mail to on-site to even by phone in the near future. Early voting, minimalist ballot harvesting (which is an extremely overblown controversy, what does it matter HOW it gets to the box as long as it’s filled out and signed?), widespread drop-off locations should be the norm, not rarities held to only a few states that do take their voting seriously. Truth is the Republican Party is definitely the minority party in this country, and making it easier to vote nationwide should slowly but surely eliminate their stranglehold on American politics.

Killing the two-party system is a tougher obstacle to overcome in order to limit the Republican Party from still trying to wreck attempted progress in this country, but nonetheless the biggest element that would directly lead to the death of a party overrun by corruption and terrorists. This can be done with ranked choice voting, forcing the primaries to give us more than one candidate to put in the final ballot, allowing independent parties like the Green Party and the Libertarians to participate in televised debates instead of relying on unpopular corners of the internet to deliver their beliefs and policy ideas, and most importantly, finally kill the Electoral College.

This conversation about the Electoral College is for another day, but part of the reason the Republicans can literally get away with murder and botching entire fucking pandemics is because the way the electoral system is set up; we have only two actual options for president and for most smaller roles throughout United States politics. Expand the options, and you not only reduce the power of the Republicans, but also the Democrat Party which has had a recent history of controversy concerning their inner fighting between the progressive wing led by Bernie Sanders and the larger faction of centrist Democrats now led by Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.

The Republican Party is a toxic shell of what it used to be, it has taken generations of deplorable actions to reach this point, but now they are at the point of no return with their connections to Donald Trump even after the terrorist attack which followed botching a pandemic and years of dividing the country with his words, actions, behavior, and refusal to change throughout the presidency.

Nancy Pelosi wanted to say it, but of course she can’t say it. But I’ll say it, the Republican Party has to completely go, as soon as possible for the good of the United States moving forward.
