Coffee and a Script

Bernie Sanders vs. The Democratic Party

The main reason why Donald Trump has not been thrown out of the White House is because his team, the Republicans, are sticking with him and swallowing bitter pills along the way. They know the moment there is an uprising within the party, everything crumbles. No matter how shitty their candidate is, no matter how badly they could get destroyed in the next election, they have to stick with the plan, and still stick with the other party members. This is why the contradictions from all the politicians who were at first insanely critical of Trump back in 2015 continue to this day. Lindsey Graham most notably, has clearly lost his soul as he’s even sacrificed friendships while backing Trump and finding ways to spin and divert all the chaos.

And this is only going to continue as the Republicans are seeing the shitshow that is emerging from the competing political party.

The Democratic Party is battling its most popular politician. Bernie Sanders is in the lead, has the strongest numbers against Trump, and has broken nearly every record in the book in terms of donations from amount to the sheer number of individuals involved. A politician breaking records should be the cause for celebration and praise as well as being headline news, but instead everything is being swept under the rug as the DNC continues to flirt with other options for the Nominee despite the poll numbers.

Billionaires like Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg have literally spent half a billion in trying to win the election. Bloomberg has been paying people on Instagram to support him and try to make viral content, which should be against the rules. We have Pete Buttigeg not only court secret billionaires in hidden meetings, but also invested money in the app that caused chaos in Iowa---before claiming victory 36 hours before the results were even officially released. Now, the DNC is changing rules to allow said billionaires who couldn’t meet the requirements beforehand to debate against the other remaining candidates---and this comes after minorities like Yang, Booker, and Harris were unable to come up with enough funds to continue campaigning and meet the necessary standards. And THAT comes after having to defend a white potential presidential candidate as his son went overseas to profit off of the family name---something that indeed has been a criticism of Donald Trump’s family from the same party.

Imagine being Bernie Sanders, and refusing money from lobbyists and the very same people that has helped create the problems only to see stifling competition coming from the types of men you normally associate with the Republican Party. The argument that Republicans are nothing but a bunch of selfish fat cats with focus on their finances and nothing else is dying upon seeing Bloomberg and Steyer approach a billion in campaign costs combined by the time we hit summer. And yet the DNC has not only looked the other direction from these obvious cases of immoral campaign techniques, but are embracing the entourage of people. And here they are pondering why candidates like Andrew Yang and Cory Booker weren’t getting more attention, it’s because Bloomberg and Co. are buying up all the ad space and all the attention.

And I’m not saying that you all need to step in line and support Bernie, but the point is that Bernie deserves a proper chance and deserves to not be mistreated by members in his own party, by his own allies, and deserves not to have to face an uphill battle against those who are clearly breaking the rules and the standards set by the party.

CNN, Washington Post, New York Times have already been notorious in their handling of Bernie-related news and behavior towards the democratic socialist. But to have the Democrats literally maintain silence years after Bernie Sanders claimed that BOTH parties were buying elections with billionaire money and lobbyist money is extremely laughable. Its also laughable how notable Democrats like Hillary Clinton stay silent on the ridiculous spending but instead tossing barbs at Bernie. This is why they are struggling in proving they can beat Trump in November 2020, because they lack the solidarity you need in order to convince others within your party or within your beliefs to vote for you.

Under a better electoral format which isn’t so focused on two parties, Bernie Sanders would have ditched everyone and formed his own path to the election. But the only way to even have a shot at the presidency is by whether being in the Blue Team or the Read Team. Clearly, Bernie’s position within the Blue Team has caused issues within the entire party, and its only going to get worse if Bernie continues to rack up wins, delegates, and support. And unless the Democrats are willing to accept the reality that the party might be shifting further left, we might see a controversial finish to the primaries, and the consequences could extend all the way to November.

Bernie would have won in 2016, Bernie can indeed win 2020, but this only happens with the permission of a political party that seemingly regretted inviting him in the first place.
