The Continuing Misadventures of the Obstructionist Party
DeSantis, seen here being a prick as usual.
As expected, Ron DeSantis is about to sign that stupid abortion ban bill. This will also happen after passing the also-shitty Don’t Say Gay bill. The angry man wearing small suits that constantly shouts for freedom from tyranny is approving measures that lets politicians dictate what women should do with their vaginas.
Sorry to be blunt, but it’s the truth.
Yet once again here is the Florida governor trying to maintain his MAGA-centic image of unrestricted personal responsibility and zero acceptance of large government regulations while behaving like big government and signing nonsense to appeal to his racist, backwards, greedy base. In the Floridian Republican Party’s quest to make Florida inhospitable to progressives, ethnic minorities, the LGBTQ+ community, and those in the lower-class tier economically, we are seeing the DeSantis administration take a hard right turn towards MAGAville while pursuing re-election and a future presidential bid.
Instead of focusing on Florida-related issues, especially in the coronavirus era and the economic turmoil that has resulted from it, DeSantis and Red Co. continues to flirt with national issues and copying the work of other worm-brained politicians in other states progressing wildly backwards. Instead of trying to work on the rising ocean tides, red tide, pollution in the ocean, a growing fissure between the middle class and cost of living, the bipolar job market, and the housing crisis, we’re instead seeing attacks against Critical Race Theory, abortion rights, education without the rose-colored lens, and *checks paperwork* mask-wearing.
All of these issues are battles that are happening in -other- states, none of them originated here, none of them are actually Sunshine State-related. What is most ridiculous of all is that Ron DeSantis absolutely knows better. He is known for being a smart, crafty, and detailed person, with tons of education to back him up. He had one of the better pandemic gameplans way back in April 2020 when strong decisions were needed. But somewhere along the line he had to bend the knee for Donald Trump and tried to jump-start the economy even when the pandemic had not finished engulfing the planet. And since the brutally bitter loss in 2020, DeSantis and his Republican friends have been on an absolute rampage.
Anti-abortion bills, voting restrictions, pointless anti-CRT laws, anti-protest laws, and many more obstructive ideas have been discussed, debated, and passed with minimal resistance on the states ruled by Republicans, especially Florida. The playbook is clear as day, Republican Party has zero ideas and their only strategy is to continue to obstruct, continue to muck the system, and continue trying to battle against a United States of America that quite frankly mostly doesn’t believe in what the Republicans have to offer. Even with all their political thrashing and posturing, a vast majority of Americans are looking in disapproval of their actions (although we also aren’t thrilled with the ongoing civil war within the Democratic Party).
The Biden Administration has met many infuriating political roadblocks while trying to pass their agenda, thanks to the obstructionist Republican Party and a couple greedy two-faced Democrats using their power as the tiebreaker to pretty much earn money and power from both sides of the conflict. But everything they are trying to pass has wide majority support, especially the child tax credits, the Build Back Better bill, and the Voting Rights Act. With the lone exception of Defund the Police (which is mostly supported by supporters of the further-leftist Squad), nearly everything the Democratic Party is currently offering has strong support and wouldn’t cause much negativity (outside the politicians) if they actually passed.
But what does the Republican Party offer? Obstruction, saying no to practically everything, putting more restrictions on American rights like voting and health-related decisions. This party has no more ideas, their masks are off and they’ve been exposed as the corrupt frauds that they’ve become since the Reagan Era tax cuts that triggered their deepest, darkest desires. They have no methods on how to improve the country, they have zero desire to make necessary changes to the political process or to any kinds of process that exists within the United States borders.
CLOSE the borders.
DON’T teach this.
DON’T have an abortion ever.
NO much-needed tax hikes for the wealthy.
RESTRICT methods of voting.
RESTRICT what you can teach in school.
NO gun restrictions regardless of how violent its gotten.
DON’T offend snowflake White Americans because you’re speaking the truth about their ancestors.
All Republicans want to do is set up walls, metaphorical and physical. They no longer actually govern; their goal is to make is so miserable for the other party and those within the blue team that it convinces them to give up entirely and allow the MAGAts to continue reeling in the benefits from the broken systems of the United States.
What is Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott actually going to offer if and when they run for president? What ideas do they actually possess? What are these new changes that they want? You couldn’t give me five policies they want to focus on that doesn’t involve restrictions or banishments. You couldn’t give me five elements of American life they want to spend more money on to improve---unless you want to count military five times. Even something as simple as beefing up the USPS would never be considered because these greedy scumheads gain nothing from it.
Their behavior since Donald Trump became president and especially after he lost re-election has been outrageously pathetic, and its only done to appeal to the core crowd of rich racist snobs that wants to preserve the image of a White America that does not actually exist. These creatures of bad habits are constantly creating and rewriting rules to make it difficult to lose, and to make it hard for Americans in most of the larger states trying to improve themselves. It cannot be a coincidence that the two states with the wildest number of recent restrictions, Florida and Texas, are the two states that are projected to be even more culturally and ethnically diverse within the next generation. White MAGAt America can’t have this, and politicians like DeSantis are trying to cash in on these fears Trump-style in order to launch themselves into a White House run.
At one point Florida was one of the better states for abortion rights in the South. But nope, this is no longer acceptable now that MAGA has poisoned the party and have now increased tenfold their attacks on rights and policies that most benefits minorities and the lower class.
The playbook is obvious, but the only way to crash their party is by playing their electoral rules and jumping obstacles they’ve created in order to oust them. Perhaps in late 2022 and 2024 we do draw enough anger and support to throw them off their paths to political success---but it won’t be easy, and it will be while having to abide by their rules of political engagement.
But until the Obstructionist Party truly starts losing their power, we are going to continue to see the rights of Americans legal and otherwise dwindle to third-world country status.
