Coffee and a Script

Trump, Biden, 50k a Month, Ukraine: The Worst Politician in North America Isn't Completely Wrong

Let’s start with this:

Donald Trump is among the worst presidents in the history of the United States and belongs in Mount Shitmore along with Nixon, Bush II, and Johnson. He is a manipulative liar that sympathizes more with dictators than democratic leaders and politicians (Saudi Arabia, China, Russia, North Korea), has stirred the racism pot to a point in which mass shootings are being done while quoting his rhetoric (El Paso), the global reputation and value of the United States has slipped, and has caused intense damage within the White House and the world of politics that may requires decades to clean up.

He has lied thousands of times, is an ignorant bully, egotistical, untrustworthy, and sometimes just straight-up stupid. And don’t even get me started with his treatment of Latin Americans starting with the racist comments about Mexico to mistreatment of Puerto Rico after Maria all the way to the concentration camps so inhumane that the courts FORCED the Trump Administration to give the migrants and the jailed men, women, and children basic hygienic needs. Trump is a manipulative conman, and I hope that after his presidency is over he becomes investigated, prosecuted, jailed, and buried underneath the prison after his time on Earth is mercifully over.

But.

Joe Biden should not be the Democratic representative in 2020.

And I mean this in terms of political strategy and as a person that has steered into further-left/democratic socialist/almost Che Guevara territory in recent years.

And believe it or not, as much of a monster Donald Trump has become in this day and age, and as ridiculous as his actions towards investigating the former vice president have become, he’s not actually completely wrong about Biden.

Trump’s strategy here is extremely simple: let me use my presidential powers to try to dig up some hypocritical dirt on Joe Biden: even if him and Hunter Biden are innocent of any legitimate corruption, its hard to hide the hypocritical narrative being spun currently. So, one of two things will happen: Trump’s discoveries will be more damning than his actions leading up to said discoveries----or as Trump goes down he will take many people down with him, including Democrats like Joe Biden.

The issue is, even if you are taking on corruption, there is no need to hide the conversations, no need to involve your personal lawyer and angry troll Rudy Giuliani, no need to withhold funds, not even a need to lightly bully the country that needs the United States via means of military aid. If Donald Trump was truly worried, he would have pursued this in a completely legal and proper manner---as with Biden running for president Hunter Biden was going to already be a source of controversy (as predicted by Salon and even New Yorker months before the impeachable actions began). And a smart man would have been more transparent and more upfront about this had he pursued this the right way AND after avoiding impeachment during the Mueller investigation. But Trump breaks the rules constantly, and the older you get the less likely you’ll change---especially if you’ve gotten away with shady activity for decades.

But the facts, as true as they are, still paints a murky picture that at the very least has you raising an eyebrow.

Hunter Biden took a job in the Ukraine serving as part of the board of a natural gas company, making $50,000 a month sometimes. Now, in his defense, he’s not the only non-Ukrainian to serve for the company at the board. That being said, there’s no way whatsoever his connections to the man in charge of cleaning up the corrupted country didn’t help him secure such a position. Hunter Biden is not a politician, is not on the White House payroll, and of course is an adult which enables him to do whatever he pleases within the context of the law. And at the same time, Joe Biden was given authority by Barack Obama to investigate the Ukraine and ensure that the country fixes its act. So Joe Biden was also within his powers to do whatever he pleases, even withhold useful funds if the country was stepping out of bounds.

But.

Imagine being Barack Obama, and seeing your vice president’s son take a job in a country you sent your VP to investigate, and watch him fire a prosecutor that may/may not have had Hunter’s company within his sights for investigation. The optics are extremely messy, similar to how Donald Trump and his family have indeed profited off of the presidential campaign and shocking win and eventual administration. And I am going to be frank because I don’t want to spread misinformation: that prosecutor was fired for not trying hard enough to challenge corruption, not because Burisma was in the crosshairs. Firing someone for not being strict enough makes no sense for a cause of concern, if anything the potential corruption would occur if Biden fired an investigator for being too overzealous. Barack Obama had to walk on eggshells and probably take political bullets for his friend and VP, and it’s honestly a miracle he survived what could have been a Hillary’s E-mail-sized controversy. Well, it IS a controversy now, just two years later.

However.

This is such easy fodder for Trump in a 2020 run against Biden. How can MY children be scrutinized, when YOUR son took hundreds of thousands of dollars while lobbying for a gas company in the Ukraine? I thought you didn’t believe in collusion? I thought you believed in climate change? I thought the family shouldn’t benefit while you are potentially president? Are those words just hollow now? BENGHAZIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Biden getting the nomination would spell potential utter disaster for the Blue Team, as the opponents can carry this story and stretch it out to Hillary-Email levels. Even with the legalities, even with the Obama Administration never shutting down the investigation into said gas company, even if the next prosecutor finished the investigator the outed one had started before the firing, the optics are quite damaging.

This is the type of upper class privilege, men-among-men, wink-wink behavior that has caused many of the problems we see today plaguing Democrats, Republicans, AND Independents around the nation. Stuff like this caused the housing crisis, has caused for Wall Street to balloon into incredible powerful numbers, has allowed for the very few to dominate most of the wealth. The Bidens are in this mix, regardless of their words and political affiliation, even if they are nowhere near the level of influence that was Peak Trump during the 1980s and 1990s.

Hunter Biden was definitely not qualified for that job, but got the job because of his connections being stronger than his credentials. Donald Trump back in the 1980s was able to get a massive loan just because he was in Forbes Magazine (which was possible…because he lied his way to the list), he didn’t need to give up his credit history or actual financial records—he just small-talked and used his connections to get the funds needed to continue staying very much afloat in the vicious world of New York business. The same criticisms we have given Trump kids for utilizing their connections and entering conversations they aren’t qualified for, should also be registered to Hunter Biden. Biden made at least 500k a year in a foreign company located in a foreign country and probably not even knowing the language---and while running a natural gas company, which is especially frustrating in an era of climate change and attempts to combat it. This Wall Street Boys persona is one that never belongs in the White House, and Biden definitely fits some of the categories---remember he has sparred with Elizabeth Warren in favor of companies back in 2005.

How can Joe Biden be considered the man of the people, and the best representative of a new voice the nation desperately needs, if his image is seemingly a parallel, albeit far smoother, version of Trump and his family? How could Biden discuss climate change or even consider some of the progressive desires of the current Democratic Party if you are loosely connected to the largest gas company in the Ukraine? Can you imagine if in the near future, one of Barack Obama’s daughters went out to Iran and took a vice president role of an old company? The Republican field in Washington would have simultaneous heart attacks.

The Joe Biden/Ukraine connection got rather lost in the later years of the Obama Administration because the brutally insane election of 2016 was going through the turbulent primaries (and because the Republican field in the White House hated Obama so much, they missed a few things here and there happening on the Left). I don’t care if its not actually Joe Biden dealing with natural gas in the Ukraine, they had to know it looked suspicious, it looks like taking advantage of political power. But on they went, and now here we are today.

So to be clear, once again, Donald Trump should be impeached over not just his current actions, but his past actions, his behavior, his entire administration full of selfish corruption, death, racial divide, and decisions that have clearly been done to just benefit his friends, himself, and nobody else. Trump has used his presidential run as an excuse to make more money, solidify a legacy as a shrewd businessman, and wreak havoc on the country as revenge for being laughed off an event at the peak of the racist Birtherism debacle.

But….we can’t also just let Joe Biden off the hook on this one either.

Technically, this incident brings light to the narrative of what is wrong with the United States today; to the victors in American life arrive all the spoils. It has become a lot harder to move up in the United States because the ceilings has been lowered while those that are on top are moving the finish line higher. So on these notes, even if Trump goes down for his actions, there’s a chance this will politically wound Joe Biden down towards a bronze medal finish as Warren/Sanders occupy the top two slots (Yang Gang, let it go, you will not go past 15% in the polls).

So yea, Trump should be gone, and it should be President Mike Pence until 2020, when the next presidential combination is revealed to not be Joe Biden and *insert random VP*, but instead Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders---two politicians who are not in the Wall Street Club, but are set out to battle it, whether or not the Democrats and Republicans are on board with it. And we are already seeing members of the supposedly-progressive party begin to change their minds as their finances are slightly threatened.

Donald Trump absolutely has to go. But same with Joe Biden.
